Welcome to our geography I-Learning website! Our project is a study of the changes in Orchard Road. We will not only present what Orchard Road was in the past, but we will also show how Orchard Road is now and look at the drastic differences between the past and the present. The various geographical concepts involved will also be examined.
Our focus area includes the central area of Orchard Road, where buildings such as Wheelock Place, Orchard MRT Station, Paragon Shopping Centre and Ngee Ann City are located. Next we have the eastern area which contains the Somerset MRT Station as well as Le Meridien, just to name a few. To the west, we have the Tanglin Road Area, within which Tanglin Mall and Tanglin Shopping Centre can be found. Lastly, our focus area also comprises the Scotts Road area to the north, where the Shaw House and Hyatt Hotel are.
As you can see, below is our very own Geographically Imperfect Map of Orchard Road. A lot of effort has been put into this hand-drawn map, and constant referencing and cross-checking had to be done with other geographically-accurate maps in order for this creation to be before your eyes today. For convenience, we have divided our area of study into 5 different regions. This division is purely for the purpose of ease of reference; there is no official division of Orchard Road into the regions that we have created. The regions are as follows:
